Porcelain Crowns & Veneers

If you’re looking to improve the aesthetics, health, and/or function of your smile, porcelain crowns and/or veneers may be the perfect option for you. Dr. Owens and his team of dental professionals can help you decide what type of porcelain restoration is the best option for you.

Correct Dental Imperfections

  • Stains and discoloration
  • Spaces between teeth
  • Misshapen teeth
  • Badly decayed teeth
  • Crooked teeth or bite misalignment
  • Tooth size or wear
  • Fractured or broken teeth
  • Need to protect and strengthen teeth

Advantages of Porcelain Restorations

A porcelain crown or veneer covers and protects the tooth and can restore that tooth to its natural or ideal shape and shade. Porcelain restorations can also correct crooked, worn and damaged teeth, making your smile look and feel perfect.

Created by ceramists who are experts in high-quality, custom porcelain restorations, these crowns are incredibly strong. When bonded in place, they protect and strengthen the remaining tooth structure. Crowns can also be placed preventatively before fractures or decay compromise the integrity of the tooth.

Many of our patients have experienced life-changing smile transformations from porcelain smile makeovers. Whether you are considering one or many teeth, we can suggest a treatment plan catered to you and your specific goals.

“I walked into Dr. Owens’ office after an awful fall that virtually shattered my two front teeth. Dr. Owens saved the day, and my smile.”

Cosmetic Bonding

Cosmetic Bonding

Dental Bonding provides an immediate, conservative and affordable solution to minor aesthetic issues. It can be a good solution for broken or chipped teeth, especially following a fall or accident. Additionally, it can help restore minor imperfections to your teeth to restore your beautiful smile.

Correct Dental Imperfections

  • Chipped teeth
  • Spaces in between teeth
  • Stains and discoloration
  • Misshapen teeth
  • Badly decayed teeth

Advantages of Dental Bonding

Dental bonding can immediately restore a tooth to its natural or ideal shape, especially after an accident has damaged a tooth. While not as strong or as permanent as porcelain restorations, dental bonding is a perfect immediate and short-term solution. Another advantage of dental bonding is that the tooth preparation is very conservative and the tooth is roughened and modified only slightly. For aesthetic bonding, it can require a longer appointment as several layers of composite will be needed with varying shades and translucencies used to achieve a natural final appearance.

Important Considerations

Bonded teeth can withstand normal chewing activity. However, there are a few factors that can affect the longevity of results. Patients are encouraged to take good care of their teeth, brushing and flossing daily. Also, teeth should not be used to open packages, and hard objects should not be chewed. Because bonding material is similar to enamel, staining can occur from smoking, tea, coffee, and red wine. Lastly, professional checkups and cleanings are vital to the care of cosmetic dental work.

Depending on your desired aesthetic, lifestyle habits, and the extent of improvement sought, you may want to consider porcelain restorations as the most suitable treatment. Dr. Owens will provide you with the full extent of information you need to determine which procedure is right for you.

Teeth Whitening

Teeth Whitening

Give your smile a dramatic boost

Your smile says more about you than any other physical feature. Whitening is an easy, inexpensive and non-invasive option to improve the appearance of your smile. Not only does whitening produce quick results, but you can also use touch up kits to maintain your bright smile at home.

Options for Teeth Whitening

In-Office Professional Teeth Whitening

This option uses a 40 percent hydrogen peroxide power bleaching gel to boost a brighter, whiter smile in less than one hour in the dental chair. Because this system is chemically activated, it starts working as soon as it is placed on your teeth and does not require a hot, uncomfortable light to be effective. This professional whitening treatment is perfect for the busy individual because it only requires one visit and the result is immediate. If you have an upcoming family event and you want your smile to shine, this may be a great option for you!

Custom Trays for Take Home Whitening

Custom whitening trays are tailored to fit your personalized smile and include whitening gel in mint or melon flavor. This take-home whitening gel includes potassium nitrate and fluoride, ingredients that reduce sensitivity, help prevent cavities, and improve the overall strength and health of the teeth. This inexpensive option is very convenient for anyone who would like to manage their whitening in the comfort of their own home. Also, the bleach can be purchased as long as you have the trays, which provides a very cost-efficient long-term option for whitening.

Opalescence “Go” for Take Home Whitening

The “Go” whitening system is a convenient set of take home whitening strips for quick and easy use. While not a custom fit, the enhanced tray design easily conforms to your individual teeth and provides a comfortable whitening experience, and the whitening gel used for these trays also contains potassium nitrate and fluoride. This option is still powerful and effective with a high-strength whitening gel that only a dentist can dispense.

Orthodontics

Orthodontics

As an adult, you don’t want wires and brackets interfering with your day-to-day routine and leaving you feeling self-conscious. Dr. Owens offers two effective and discreet solutions for adults seeking to correct mild to moderate orthodontic issues: Invisalign and Clear Correct.

Invisible Braces Can Correct

  • Crowding
  • Close spacing
  • Overbite
  • Underbite
  • Crossbite
  • Crooked teeth

Other benefits of invisible braces include:

  • Discreet – No one will even notice you are wearing braces.
  • Treatment Time – Patients typically finish their treatment in 6-12 months.
  • Comfort – Eat, speak, brush and floss your teeth like normal.
  • Appointments – All scheduled conveniently here in our office.

Smile Makeovers

Smile Makeovers

As the name suggests, a smile makeover improves a smile through one or more dental procedures. Smile makeovers can involve procedures such as: teeth whitening, veneers, crowns, tooth-colored fillings, bridges and implants.

Reasons to consider a smile makeover

A smile makeover covers every aspect of improving a smile both aesthetically and functionally. In fact, a smile makeover can also correct a bad or misaligned bite and return your jaw to its natural and ideal position. Not only does this make you more comfortable and natural, it can also help you avoid complicated jaw problems in the future.

Considerations with smile makeovers

When considering a smile makeover, it is important to search for a dentist who is accredited by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD). Dr. Owens is not only accredited, but he has also completed the widely-respected Las Vegas Institute (LVI) Cosmetic Training. Also, Dr. Owens listens to each patient to discover what they are currently unhappy with and wish to change. He uses ideal tooth proportions, shape, shade, and transparency to give each patient a unique, realistic and stunningly beautiful smile.

The Process of a Full Mouth Restoration

A full mouth restoration is a type of smile makeover that involves covering each tooth with a porcelain veneer, crown, bridge or even placing an implant with a porcelain cap. These complex cases have incredible results, but require a lengthy process to make sure that your new smile is nothing short of perfect.

Dr. Owens starts with a cosmetic consultation in which he can listen to your situation, needs and goals. During that consultation, you are welcome to bring images of smiles that you find attractive and even analyze pictures of your own smile. Before beginning the process of cosmetic dentistry, Dr. Owens also completes a comprehensive exam. In this thorough examination, Dr. Owens ensures that there are no undiagnosed issues, looks for risk factors, and makes sure that your oral health will support a smile makeover.

Once a treatment plan has been decided on, a wax-up of the design that you and Dr. Owens create is made. When this is returned, you will be able to see what your new smile will look like. During this appointment, you and Dr. Owens can discuss each aspect of the wax-up, or proposed smile, and make any modifications you like.

After you have fully approved this proposed smile, permanent restorations will be made. The preparations will be made and the wax-up you decided on will be used to make the temporary. In this way, you get to try on the final result and observe your smile in the mirror before any restorations are permanently bonded to your teeth. Again, if you notice any changes you would like to make now that you are wearing your new smile, you can discuss these changes with Dr. Owens so that your permanent restorations can be made exactly the way you want.

Once we receive the permanent restorations back from the lab, we have you double check that you are satisfied with the result and your new smile. Although it is not common, there are instances in which the final restorations are not perfectly in line with the patient’s preferences. If you are not completely happy with your new smile, we continue the process until you are. No restorations are bonded to your teeth unless you love them!
